Your Travel Experience with Bamba
Make your own way to the meeting point; from there we start our trekking to the first point
Transfer from Panajachel to the trailhead, where your journey into Maya spirituality begins
A gentle hike (max 20 minutes) leads you through lush forest to the entrance of the first of four mystical caves—Nimajay, San Simon, Enchanted, and Colorado—each shrouded in local legend.
Step inside these sacred caves, revered by local tribes for centuries, and witness the powerful fire-cleansing ritual. A Maya shaman leads the ceremony, surrounded by the flicker of sacred flames and offerings. Your guide brings the ritual to life, explaining the deep meanings and fascinating traditions behind the ceremony, including secrets of the intricate Mayan calendar.
Feel the spiritual energy as you stand where generations have come for protection and blessings. If fortunate, observe the shaman’s blessing in progress—a moving slice of living Maya culture.
Ascend to Eagle Rock, perched 1,200 feet above Lake Atitlan. From this dramatic vantage, marvel at sweeping caldera views and the serene lake far below. Breathe in the pure mountain air—let your spirit soar with the birds.
Before returning, visit the mysterious shrine of San Simon/Maximon, step inside a colonial-era church, and if time permits, visit a breathtaking 200-foot waterfall—each stop adding a new layer of intrigue and wonder to your day.
As your exploration concludes, take a final deep breath and soak in the awe-inspiring panorama of Lake Atitlan and its volcanic vistas. Let the tranquil beauty and ancient tradition of the sacred caves leave a lasting imprint on your spirit. You’ll return to Panajachel not only with stunning memories, but also with a deeper understanding of Mayan heritage and a heart renewed by this extraordinary day of culture, nature, and connection.
