Explore Salar de Uyuni
Embark on a tour of the Salar de Uyuni, one of the highest deserts in the world, framed by mountains and volcanoes reaching 5000 meters above sea level. Your journey begins at Uyuni’s ‘train graveyard,’ home to Bolivia’s first locomotives. Next, visit Colchani to see how local artisans craft goods from salt and weave textiles from llama and alpaca fibre.
The adventure continues across the vast Salt Flats of Uyuni, sitting at an altitude of 3650 meters. Here, you'll have the opportunity to take stunning photographs against the endless white backdrop, visit the mesmerizing 'salt water eyes,' and explore a hotel entirely constructed of salt, which now functions as a museum.
After lunch, the tour proceeds to "Isla Incahuasi" (Fish Island), where you can hike to the summit for spectacular views of giant cacti and rock formations made of petrified coral. Enjoy creating fun, perspective-distorted photos against the flat's striking landscape.
The day concludes with a serene view of the sunset over the salt flats, followed by a return to the village of Colchani, before heading back to Uyuni by 6:30 pm. This full-day tour offers a comprehensive look at this breathtaking natural wonder and local culture.
