Rise and shine! The journey kicks off bright and early as we depart from La Fortuna, accompanied by your friendly, bilingual naturalist guide ready to reveal the wild secrets of Costa Rica.
As the sunrise glimmers over endless coffee plantations, our path winds into the emerald peaks of Braulio Carrillo National Park. Gaze from your window at thick, cloud-draped forests and cascading waterfalls tumbling down steep slopes—it’s like something straight out of a dream. Fresh air builds a hearty appetite! Just beyond the park, we pause to refuel with a traditional Costa Rican breakfast: enjoy fresh fruit juice, rich local coffee, eggs, and the much-loved “Gallo Pinto.” It’s a taste of pura vida on your plate. Next up, a peek behind the scenes at a working banana plantation. Your guide will share the fascinating journey of this tropical staple from local soil to tables around the world.
Time to trade wheels for water! We board our boat and glide into the winding canals of legendary Tortuguero National Park. Your guide brings the rainforest to life, pointing out sloths, playful monkeys, rare manatees, and elusive agoutis among the lush foliage. Bird lovers, keep your eyes peeled for dazzling toucans, elegant herons, and the shimmering blue morpho butterflies. This slice of untouched jungle is also a haven for crocodiles and, if you’re lucky, turtles basking in the sun.
A morning of rainforest exploration builds up quite a hunger. Dig into a generous buffet of Costa Rican specialties—perfect for replenishing your energy for the adventures ahead! Check in to your restful lodge, nestled within the rainforest. Lunch is served with a view of the river and the jungle all around—a true immersion in nature. Time to stretch your legs and discover the charms of Tortuguero village. For just $1, visit the local museum and stroll the colorful streets, where life moves to the rhythm of the rivers. Return to the hotel and take some well-deserved downtime. Go for a swim, nap, or simply relax as the jungle hums around you. Gather with your fellow explorers for a delicious dinner, featuring local flavors as dazzling as the day’s adventures.

After dinner, your guide will introduce the captivating* Night Tour* ($35). Glide along in a boat beneath the cover of darkness, spotting nocturnal creatures beneath the stars. From July to October, you’ll have the magical opportunity to witness the nesting ritual of the majestic giant green sea turtles right on the beach—a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife spectacle.

Wake up with the sun for an unforgettable adventure! This morning, you'll set out on a thrilling boat tour through the heart of the park, gliding across sparkling waters as you discover hidden corners of untamed wilderness and soak in the awe-inspiring beauty all around you. After this magical morning close to nature, head back to your accommodation for a hearty breakfast and take some time to pack up before checking out. At 9:00 a.m., your transfer to vibrant Puerto Viejo awaits. Enjoy the scenic journey, perhaps stopping for a delicious lunch along the way (please note: lunch not included in budget package). By around 3:30 p.m., you’ll arrive in colorful Puerto Viejo, ready for the next chapter of your adventure!
